RULES AND REGULATIONS GOVERNING THE OTTAWA FISHING FESTIVAL
July 14-July 15, 2012
- All participants must be registered in the Ottawa Fishing Festival prior to commencing of fishing.
- There are two separate prize categories: age 6 to11 and Teen/Adult 12+.
- All contestants registered and who enter the Ottawa Fishing Festival are eligible for their category prize. Children under 12 must have a parent/guardian designated to receive prize awards on behalf of the child.
- To be eligible for prizes, individuals must be legal residents of Canada (residents of Quebec Excluded).
- Ottawa Fishing Festival Wristbands must be worn at all times when participating in the Festival.
- Parental supervision is mandatory for children 11 years and under
- Participants agree to abide by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources Game and Fish Act and regulations, and the Rules and Regulations of the Ottawa Fishing Festival.
- Live or artificial bait may be used. All fish must be caught by conventional sport fishing methods in accordance with recognized angling practices
- Any entrant who uses anything whatsoever to attempt to falsely represent themselves or the fish they have caught shall be immediately disqualified from this and future Festivals. All prizes and awards will be forfeited back to the Festival.
- Fish must be in good condition, preferably kept in a bucket until an OFF official acknowledges your catch. Presentation of fish for “live release” must meet Festival and Conservation standards or it will not qualify for prizes.
- Only live fish that are caught between 10am-5pm on Saturday July 14, 2012, and from 10am-5pm on Sunday July 15, 2012 are eligible for prizes. Only fish caught in the Brewer park fishing zone qualify.
- Shoreline fishing and fishing from kayak, canoes and boats less than 17 foot length is permissible. No motorize watercraft is permitted.
- Only rod and reel fishing. No net or other type of equipment that is not rod and reel.
- Participants agree that the decisions of the official committee members and/or the Festival Director shall be final and binding on all matters.
- All fish caught must be inspected by Festival Officials before any qualification is given for awards.
- All prizes and awards must be claimed the same day.
- Suggested items to bring are; hat and sun glasses (protect against flying lures), sun screen, boots, lawn chairs, and bug spray.
